Marlborough first XI made a trip to Warminster and were put into bat on what looked like a good wicket. Painter and Bendall battled hard at the top of the order against a disciplined opening bowling partnership.
Runs were hard to come by and a couple of early wickets saw Marlborough fall to 32/2 after 12 overs, losing the wickets of Bendall (1) & Gandhi (8). Painter continued playing some good shots but was out shortly after, top scoring with 44.
Will Miller (19) dug in and anchored the innings with good contributions coming from both Parker (23) and Hetherton (23), including a couple of big sixes from the latter.
When Hetherton was dismissed, being caught on the boundary, the innings was in danger of being well under par at 144/8, but Zak Tunmore (37) batted brilliantly as he has done all year at 9, with good support from Wilby, to help post a score of 172 all out.
Defending 172 was going to require a great bowling and fielding performance and it got off to a bad start, with runs flowing off the bat, Hawkes and Tunmore being punished any time their lengths strayed.
The batting side finding the gaps with ease to race through to 76/0 off the first 10. Brad Whatley (3/46) came on and took a few quick wickets, but the damage was already done, and Warminster comfortably came home within the first 25 overs to win the game.
